Previously known as the Criminal Records and Identification Division of Missouri, the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) undertakes the responsibility of arrest records per state statute for the state of Missouri. It is one of the divisions at the Missouri State Highway Patrol Department and it maintains the state’s central repository. The criminal files under its charge are updated on a daily basis under the supervision of the County Sheriff’s office. The public can request this information at the CJIS in person, through mail, phone, fax or online. Signed release is not required.
Criminal history record information in Missouri is accessible by both law enforcement and non-law enforcement agencies. It is available in two forms: name-based and fingerprint search at $10 per name and $20 per search respectively. An automated system MACHS (Missouri Automated Criminal History Site) is also provided and any member of the public is allowed to request personal identifier (name-based) background checks through it online.

Missouri Arrest Records are only available through fingerprint search. The fingerprint cards can be ordered and collected at the local police station. All arrests and dismissed charges are considered closed records and are restricted to self-checks and approved government departments and agencies. Commercial service providers are far more flexible and easier. For all practical purposes, they’re well worth a try. Surf the net and verify it now!
