Search Arrest Records
The State Bureau of Identification (SBI) of Maine serves as the State central repository for criminal history records information (CHRI). Organizationally, it goes under the Maine State Police and holds the responsibility to gather, file and store CHRI including Maine Arrest Records. It provides this information to both public and justice entities. Both name and fingerprint-based checks are offered. There is no difference in the fee between the two.
An online site is provided 24 hours a day for electronic access for requesting criminal history records and juvenile crime information maintained at the SBI. A signed release is not mandatory but only data on felony and misdemeanor convictions arrest records will be released. A criminal record check costs $31. Notarized reports can be ordered and they cost an additional $10. Discounts are available for frequent checks at $21 per search. Search results are mostly returned via-email within 2 hours but it could be up to 2 weeks if manual intervention is required. Criminal information maintained by the federal government or other states is not available.
