Brandon J. Raub has been ordered confined to a mental health facility for 30 days without criminal charge following what his family had described as a brief evaluation by a mental health professional over comments the former Marine made on Facebook about 9/11. Government officials have stated that Raub’s comments were the only reason that Virginia’s emergency custody legislation is being used to detain him, based on the reason that Raub needs psychiatric care and is “not ready to go back into society.” Raub claims that his comments on the social networking site have been wrongfully interpreted.
