The trial of Gary Kasparov is set to begin on August 24, 2012. The former chessmaster was arrested outside of the courthouse in Moscow during the Pussy Riot trial. Kasparov, who was there to attend, not as a protestor, was cornered by police and dragged into a van. Photos released around the world show him being assaulted in the vehicle. Kasparov has been accused of biting a police officer’s hand during the assault, and has told fans through his Facebook page that he has complained to the Investigative Committee of Russia about his illegal arrest and assault.
