Mexican police have arrested 12 suspected members of the Cartel independiente de Acapulco for the murders of at least 18 people. One of those arrested was Jose Alberto Quiroz Perez, who is allegedly one of the cartel’s bosses. Quiroz Perez and his associates are suspected of kidnapping rival gang members, murdering them and dumping their bodies in public places, along with threatening messages. The cartel also threatened business owners in Acapulco. This major arrest is a step in the right direction and hopefully the charges will lead to convictions against all the accused.
