The Criminal History Records Section of the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) serves as the Central State Repository for the state’s criminal records. Copies of this information are restricted to authorized individuals/agencies. Arizona Arrest Records come under the Public Records Unit (PRU). These 2 sections go under the Technical Services Division. The other divisions controlled by the DPS are the Criminal Investigations Division and Highway Patrol Division. Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) also maintains a set of arrest records which are updated every seven days by the Correctional Department.
All applications for Arizona Arrest Records are processed by the PRU. Name-based searches are not available to the public. Private individuals wishing to conduct an investigation can only do a fingerprint-based lookup. To do that, a “Record Review Instruction Packet” must be completed in which a pre-addressed envelope, request form, fingerprint card and instructions for completing the packet are included.

Arizona is an open record state. By law, criminal justice agencies within the state are required to report all arrest and disposition information into the Central State Repository at the Arizona DPS. The general public is authorized to inspect all public files but the use of public records for commercial reasons is prohibited. Standard government agency procedures and regulations also must be followed.
Private providers are an alternative way to retrieve online arrest records without the fuss and waiting time thus making them much more convenient and practical in many ways. They tap into government databases; and they also maintain their own information sources. On top of it, they are perfect for cross-state checks and very affordably priced too. Give it a try here.
